Kieran is currently supervising PhD projects in global sustainability in multinationals, scaling in global start-ups, internationalisation from emerging markets and comparative institutionalism. He is open to proposals from prospective PhD students who should contact him directly.
Research activity per year
Kieran Conroy is a Reader of International Business at Queen’s Business School, Queen’s University Belfast. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Business School and has previously held visiting appointments at La Rochelle Business School, France.
His research and consulting interests focus on international management and global strategy, particularly the evolution of corporate strategies and global leadership in multinationals. Central themes focus on headquarter-subsidiary relationships, global mobility flows, knowledge coordination, and global human capital development.
He is a British Academy Mid-Career Fellow, and the British Academy of Management has also funded his research. Funding has been awarded for research on various projects such as, ‘navigating the challenges of transitioning to agile work’, ‘the evolving role of regional headquarters’, and ‘strategic leadership of subsidiary managers in multinationals’.
His work has been published or is forthcoming in leading international outlets such as Academy of Management Perspectives, Global Strategy Journal, Journal of World Business, and Human Resource Management Journal, among others. He sits on several editorial boards including, Academy of Management Perspectives, Global Strategy Journal, and Journal of World Business. His research received several honours, including awards and nominations from the Academy of Management and Strategic Management Society and Outstanding Reviewer awards from Journal of World Business and Critical Perspectives on International Business.
He has experience teaching courses at all levels. Teaching areas generally involve Global Strategy, International Management, and International Human Resource Management. He has also been nominated for several Teaching Awards and his academic leadership service includes Program Director roles for various programmes.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
