PhD projects
Kieran is currently supervising PhD projects in areas broadly related to international business. He is particularly interested in how multinationals innovate their sustainability practices, navigate conflict zones, and manage their global workforces. He is open to proposals from prospective PhD students who should contact him directly.
Research activity per year
Kieran Conroy is a Reader of International Business at Queen’s Business School. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Business School and has previously held visiting appointments at La Rochelle Business School, France.
His research and consulting interests focus on international management and global strategy, particularly the evolution of corporate strategies and leadership in multinationals. Central themes focus on headquarters-subsidiary relationships, global mobility flows, knowledge coordination, and human capital development.
He is a British Academy Mid-Career Fellow, and the British Academy of Management has funded his research. Funding has been awarded for research on various projects related to strategic leadership in multinational organisations.
His work has been published or is forthcoming in leading international outlets such as Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of International Business Studies, Global Strategy Journal, Journal of World Business, and Human Resource Management Journal, among others. His research received several honours, including awards and nominations from the Academy of Management and Strategic Management Society and Outstanding Reviewer awards from Academy of Management Perspectives and Journal of World Business. He sits on editorial boards of multiple journals, including Global Strategy Journal, Academy of Management Perspectives, and Journal of World Business.
He has experience teaching courses at all levels. Teaching areas generally involve Global Strategy, International Management, and International Human Resource Management. He has also been nominated for several Teaching Awards and has served in Director roles for various programmes.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
