Personal profile

Research Focus

I am a Senior Technician in the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research, working as the 3rd floor laboratory manager which focuses on Colorectal Cancer research.

My role is diverse; involving facilities and equipment management, Health and Safety, laboratory consumables and reagents ordering and monitoring. I also provide training and teaching students and staff in Flow cytometry, Cell culture and Molecular Biology techniques. I enjoy contributing to publications and teaching the next generation of Cancer researchers to help improve patient lives.

In 2020 I was awarded Chartered Scientist professional registration with the Science Council and Institute of Science and Technology.

Interests

Research skills:

Flow cytometry, cell culture, western blotting, and Next generation sequencing

Lab management skills:

Procurement, Fire safety, Building Liason officer, equipment setup, maintenance and repair

Technical committment:

I am an active member of the MHLS faculty Technician committee and the University Technicial Commitment Steering group
