Personal profile

Particulars

I'm a doctoral researcher and registered nurse with a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing and a background in critical care nursing in clinical practice. Prior to commencing my PhD, I worked as a research assistant.

Research Focus

I'm currently working with Dr Gary Mitchell and Dr Gillian Prue on a research project in partnership with NIPANC (Northern Ireland Pancreatic Cancer) to explore the experiences of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Northern Ireland and develop a theory to explain the journey. This is funded by a Department for the Economy (DfE) CAST (Co-operative Awards in Science and Technology) studentship for postgraduate research.

Research Interests

As a research assistant, my work has involved research around dementia, delirium, end-of-life and palliative care, caregiver support, and the education of health profession students and qualified staff. I have experience of undertaking scoping and systematic reviews, supporting co-design projects, using the delphi method, conducting semi-structured interviews and focus groups, incorporating photovoice, and working with developers to create digital education resources.

Interests

Outside of my work life, I enjoy travelling, reading novels, bouldering, yoga, hiking, cinema-going, gig-going, playing board games, and embracing my mediocrity by trying out new things.
