Investigation of science-based solutions to address climate change challenges motivated me to investigate tidal-stream energy. My expertise ranges multiple fields from physics to oceanographic campaigns and tidal resource characterisation, which together provide me with a big picture appropriate for pre-prototype testing of tidal energy technology. I obtained a BS in Physics and MS in Physical Oceanography in my home country Mexico. I obtained a Ph.D. degree in the Civil engineering by the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG). As Ph.D. researcher I investigated an alternative representation of marine turbine arrays at regional-scale in bidimensional hydrodynamic models. As postdoctoral researcher I have collaborated with i) NUIG marine modelling group through the North Atlantic salmon conservation organization project, and ii) the department of Meteorology of Reading University through the ocean heat transport variability project. Currently I am participating with the Vertical Axis Tidal Turbines in Strangford (VATTS) project.
