Research Statement

Dr. Lisa Messina is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Queen's Business School, Queen’s University Belfast. Her research spans entrepreneurship, innovation, and international business, with a focus on SMEs, high-tech startups, academic spin-offs, and agri-food SMEs. Drawing from this rich background, Lisa teaches courses on Leadership in Change, Global Business Environment, Innovation Management, and Entrepreneurship. Lisa actively collaborates with industry, partnering with university incubators, venture capital funds, and providing strategic guidance to organisations navigating uncertain environments.

Achievements

Lisa was awarded a PhD in Management from Queen's University Belfast in 2019. Lisa also holds an MSc in International Business (Distinction) and a BSc in International Business with French (First Class Honours) from Queen's University Belfast.

Teaching

Lisa has taught on a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate modules on the topics of International Business, Management and Leadership, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, including Innovation Management, Global Business Environment, Leading For Change, Managerial Behaviour, Applied International Business, International Business, and Venture Scale-up.  Lisa also actively designs and delivers executive education programmes, particularly on topics relating to SME growth and scaling, innovative capabilities, and digitalisation.
