PhD Title: The Place of the Church in Late Medieval Ulster
My PhD examines negotiations of cultural identity and power in late medieval Irish church buildings and landscapes, particularly focussed on the ecclesiastical province of Armagh. It uses a combination of GIS spatial analysis, buildings survey and examination of medieval records to explore how both the Anglo-Normans and Gealic Irish used and interacted with their local parish churches durng the thirteenth to early-sixteenth centuries.
