Mairead is a Lecturer (Education) in Postgraduate Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy.

Mairead graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Pharmacy from Queen's University Belfast in 2014. After completing her pre-registration training year in the hospital setting, she returned to the School of Pharmacy to study for a PhD in Pharmacy Practice entitled "Improving medicines management for people with dementia in primary care". Following this, Mairead worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (maternity cover) in the School of Pharmacy on a project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research entitled "The Care Homes Independent Pharmacist Prescriber Study (CHIPPS)".

Mairead has extensive experience in the community pharmacy setting and has held various positions including Pharmacist Store Manager. She has also worked as a general practice pharmacist during which time she has undertaken a diploma in COPD and qualified as an Independent Prescriber. Mairead continues to locum regularly in community pharmacy.
