I am a Research Fellow and member of the Center for Improving Health Related Quality of Life (CIHRQoL) at Queen's University Belfast currently working on the NIHR-funded CHOICE Trial (Changing Habits tO Prevent ChiLd CariEs; Adair et al., 2021). I work alongside academic and public health partners to promote positive oral health-related behaviour change to prevent future tooth decay in children by using a novel intervention (Dental RECUR - Brief Negotiated Interview; Pine et al., 2020) in NHS primary care.
My research interests include designing and facilitating the delivery of brief psychological interventions to improve behaviour in public health settings (e.g., dental practice, debt management).
Previously, my PhD research explored reading and learning behaviour in University students. It investigated hypertext navigation and reading comprehension, focusing on several cognitive factors including working memory and metacognition.
Other areas of interest include: relationships between problem debt, regrets, and future-self-connectedness; the effects of generalised anxiety on working memory (using 7.5% CO2 inhalation paradigm); anxiolytic potential of cognitive-enhancing drugs (i.e., nootropics).
