Dr Marc Edwards is a Lecturer (Education) in the School of Dentistry at Queen's University Belfast and is module co-ordinator of the second-year undergraduate course DEN2025 Dental Public Health and Behavioural Sciences. He is also Wellbeing Lead for the School of Dentistry.

Dr Edwards is also a Research Fellow and member of the Center for Improving Health Related Quality of Life (CIHRQoL) in the School of Psychology at Queen's and is currently working on the NIHR-funded CHOICE (Changing Habits tO Prevent ChiLd CariEs) trial. He works alongside academic and public health stakeholders to promote positive oral health-related behaviour change to prevent future tooth decay in children by using a novel intervention (Dental RECUR - Brief Negotiated Interview) in NHS primary care.

Dr Edwards' primary research interests include brief psychological interventions to improve behaviour in public health settings (e.g., primary care in dentistry) and pedagogy in dental undergraduate behavioural science teaching. Secondary areas of interest include: reading comprehension, relationships between problem debt, regrets, and future-self-connectedness; the effects of generalised anxiety on working memory (using 7.5% CO2 inhalation paradigm); anxiolytic potential of cognitive-enhancing drugs (i.e., nootropics).

Previously, his PhD research explored reading and learning behaviour in University students, investigating hypertext navigation, reading comprehension, working memory, and metacognition.
