Research Statement

Having completed my PhD at Queen's University Belfast in 2015, I am currently developing my research profile in the following areas:

 (a) accountability in social organisations

 (b) corporate sustainability accounting and accountability

I am currently a Lecturer in Accounting at Queen's University Management School Belfast. Having qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers and Lybrand in Dublin, I obtained an MBA (with Distinction) from the University of Warwick. I have extensive teaching and consultancy experience within the higher education sector. I have lectured extensively on financial accounting and financial management, and I am a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and a member of the Financial Reporting Faculty of ICAEW. Currently I am an assessor for the award of Chartered Manager for UK practising managers, a CIMA Advocate for Northern Ireland and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I have a passion for teaching and research and have the ability to integrate academic theory and practice. My PhD looked at the discharge of accountability by UK social enterprise organisations. My other research interests include accounting and accountability within corporate organisations.
