Personal profile

Research Interests

I have a practice background in adult services and older people services and mental health and dementia.  At present my research has focused on religion and spirituality in mental health and how this is engaged with in social work practice in Northern Ireland.  I am interested in extending this to other conflict / trauma based societies more generally, and looking at the interfaces of religion and spirituality, faith based organisations and mental health services.

I am also interested in destitution and poverty in the UK and the impacts this has across various groups and persons in society.  This is particulalry pertinent in the light of the rising cost of living, benefits cap and an overall increased pressure of those living on the margins of society.
