Research Focus
I am undertaking a phylogeography study of the critically endangered species Achillea maritima (commonly known as cottonweed), this species is confined to a singular population of 12 individuals found near Our Lady's Island, Wexford.
A. maritima is a species commonly found in sand dunes around southern European coastlines, the Irish population is at the northern edge of the species range. The results of this reseach will inform conservation management of the species here in Ireland and potentially in other regions where declines have been observed.
