I have a particular research interest in mental health within our rural and farming communities.

BSc Hons in Mental Health Nursing

Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the BABCP

MSc Advanced Professional Practice

Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching (PGCHET)

My clinical experience includes, acute inpatient mental health and community nursing. I have worked as a community psychiatric nurse in the home treatment team, community mental health team and mental health assessment centre.  I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and have practised clinically as a CBT therapist.

Teaching

I primarily teach into the Graduate Entry Masters (GEMS) programme.  I am the module coordinator for the Year Two Mental Health Interventions for Complex Mental Ill Health module. I am the mental health tutorial lead for Developing Leadership and Professionalism module.  I have previously taught across the year two BSc (hons) professional nursing programme.

I supervise both Graduate Entry MSc and MSc nursing programme students.

I act as a link lecturer for various clinical areas within the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust.  Educational audits and student support are the main responsibilities within the link lecturer role.  I am personal tutor to a group of students for the duration of their course providing support and guidance throughout their time on the programme.
