Research Interests

Dr Boyd’s research interests lie within the general area of controlled release drug delivery systems, specifically in sustained release and comination products . He has specialist interest in the manufacture of thermoplastic and thermosetting drug delivery devices using injection moulding and additive manufacturing techniques.  

Teaching

Dr Boyd is Module coordinator for the Level 1:Mathematics and Statistics module, part of the undergraduate BSc Pharmaceutical Science degree course at the School of Pharmacy, Queen's University of Belfast. He also teaches Pharmaceutical Engineering on the Level 2 Pharmaceutical Technology module, focusing on the basic theory and concepts of fluid dynamics, mixing, milling and filtration in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
