Interests

Rachel is a Lecturer in Architecture following over a decade of work as an architect with award winning practices in London and Belfast. Rachel acted as Project Architect on residential projects at McGonigle McGrath mainly involving the sensitive repair and reconfiguration of various scales and periods of building. She was a design team member for House Lessans, which was awarded an RIBA National Award, AAI Special Mention 2019 and RIBA House of the Year. She acted as Project Architect on Light House which received an RSUA Design Award 2025 and House of the Year award.

Rachel's interests include low-tech sustainable approaches and the development of robust technical details suited to our climate. A core interest is developing an understanding of how we can construct sustainably, creatively and ethically in an era of decarbonisation with a particular focus on the use of natural stone.

Teaching

Rachel teaches architectural design and technology in undergraduate (BSc) architecture, and technology and professional skills in the masters (MArch) programme.
