Research Focus
The creative component of my PhD (a collection of creative non-fiction essays titled 'The Lost Cottage') explores the concept of Shifting Baseline Syndrome through the two-hundred-year-old story of a traditional Irish cottage in Donegal. The critical element assesses the influence of Shifting Baseline Syndrome on British and Irish nature writing with a focus on the intergenerational loss of knowledge, memory and experience of the environment.
