My research focuses on voice in community and applied theatre contexts. I am interested in exploring embodied practices of voice, such as voice training, and how they relate to social justice and social change. I am also interested in the social and cultural value of actor and performer training more broadly. Alongside this I am interested in social class and access to arts education and the creative industries more broadly.
I have worked as a community theatre practitioner, specifically writing and directing community plays.
My interests include:
Voice
Applied and community theatre
Performer training
Political and workers theatre
Social class
I teach across a range of theatre and performance practices, including contemporary theatre, applied and community theatre, performer and actor training, educational theatre, participatory performance, directing, and devising.
