Personal profile
Teaching
I am a Lecturer (Education) on the Year 1 Undergraduate BSc Professional Nursing (Adult Nursing) programme within the School of Nursing and Midwifery, where I teach across all first-year modules. I also serve as the module co-ordinator for Professionalism in Nursing (Feb Intake) and SafeMedicate 1 (Sept Intake). In addition, I hold the role of link lecturer for several clinical placement areas.
At postgraduate level, I occupy the role of Postgraduate Short Course Lead in Dementia Care and teach on the Pathway for the PG Dip Specialist Practice in Older People's Nursing Programme and the PG Cert in Nursing Care of the Older Person in Care Home Settings. I am actively involved in the supervision of both MSc and PhD students.
I am also the founder and academic lead for the University's Future Ready Planetary Health Champions: Driving Sustainability in Healthcare Programme at the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences.
My academic interests include the co-development and evaluation of educational podcasts, gamification strategies, and other asynchronous learning approaches, particularly as they relate to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Research Interests
I am currently involved in a number of funded research projects. The common thread of my research is around supporting healthcare professionals to optimise their nursing practice through knowledge translation activities.
