Personal profile

Research Focus

I am a PhD student in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. My current research focus is Dementia Friendly Communities (DFC) in Northern Ireland. 

Research Interests

The common thread of my research projects is around supporting people living with dementia and dementia education for undergraduate nurses. Along with research supporting healthcare professionals to optimise their nursing practice.

Teaching

I am a Year One Teaching Assistant for the undergraduate Professional Nursing (BSc) course at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. At postgraduate level, I teach on the Pathway Lead for the Specialist Practice in Older People's Nursing Programme and the PG Cert in Nursing Care of the Older Person in Care Home Settings.

I am on the School's postgraduate research/ taught SWAN Committee. I am also actively involved in the supervision of postgraduate masters students.

I'm interested in the co-development and assessment of educational podcasts, gamification, and other asynchronous learning methods as it relates to the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Particulars

I am currently the Network Lead for the Royal College of Nursing Northern Ireland Independent Sector. This network represents nurses and healthcare assistants working within the independent sector in Northern Ireland.

I am currently on the steering committee for the Royal College of Nursing's Older People's Forum. This forum represents more than 12,000 nurses and support staff providing care to older people in the United Kingdom.
