Research Interests

Dr Maguire is a Research Fellow in Mental Health with Queen’s Communities and Place (QCAP) working across the Community Health and Wellbeing dimension of place. QCAP is a research focused initiative built on engagement and partnership between communities, policymakers and academics. 

Previously Stephanie worked as a research fellow at both Ulster University and Queen’s University Belfast. Her work to date has involved projects concerned with adolescent mental health and wellbeing, adolescent dating violence and neurodiverse adolescents. Stephanie was part of the team who, via a participatory research approach, adapted and validated the first self-report measures (ID-SWEMWS and ID-Kidscreen10) to assess health-related quality of life and mental wellbeing among neurotypical adolescents.

During 2015 Stephanie was awarded a PhD studentship by the Department of Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland and Queen’s University School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work (SSESW) to undertake a mixed-methods research study focused on intimate partner violence and preventative education. This research has since been published in the British Educational Research Journal and presented at the European Conference on Domestic Violence (ECDC).

Teaching

Stephanie is a lecturer within the M.Sc. Psyhcology Programme at Ulster University’s School of Psychology, where she teaches across key areas including Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Individual Differences, Cognitive Psychology, Qualitative Research Methods, Research Project and Project Design.
