Stuart Harper is a senior lecturer (education) within the Institute of Professional Legal Studies Queen's and a fellow of the higher education academy.

Stuart qualfied as a solicitor in 2005 and worked in private practice for 16 years before joining Queen's in January 2021.

Teaching

Stuart's area of subject expertise is in conveyancing, property law, private client work and litigation. Stuart teaches trainee solicitor and barristers in these areas alongside providing skill based training. Stuart delivers the Property Law and Practice, Bar Conveyancing and Litigition and Private Client Revenue modules. Stuart is currently the national representative on the International Client Consulation Committee.

Stuart is responsible for the design and delivery of the continuing professional development programme at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies. These courses and seminars benefit the legal profession and other vocational sectors.

Stuart is a regular presenter at continuing professional development courses and seminars in the areas of conveyancing, property law, housing law and policy and charity law and governance. 

 

Other

Stuart works closely with the Law Society of Northern Ireland and is a member of the Conveyancing and Property Committee. Stuart is also a member of the New Build Working Group of the Law Society of Northern Ireland.

Stuart has appeared on behalf of the Law Society before Stormont Select Committees in relation to proposed new legislation in the area of property law.  

Stuart is a committee member of the Queen’s University Soccer Club and is actively involved in working with students at the club.
