Personal profile

Research Interests

I am an ambitious and compassionate Clinical Reader and Honorary Consultant in Clinical Oncology, an international authority in the management of prostate cancer with advanced radiotherapy and systemic therapies. My clinical academic focus is localised and advanced prostate cancer. I am very interested in hypofractionated radiotherapy as a means to escalate radiation dose to tumour and improve outcomes for men with locally advanced prostate cancer. This radiotherapy can be optimally delivered with High Dose Rate brachytherapy or with Image Guided Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR). I am the Chief Investigator on a clinical-translational study of prostate SABR and two studies in prostate cancer. I have been local PI on 17 clinical trials, I'm a member of 9 Trial Mangement Groups.

Translational Research

I collaborate extensively with an interdisciplinary group of academics aimed at modelling modern radiotherapy treatments in vitro and in vivo.  We have been comparing different methods of delivering high dose hypofractionated radiotherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer.

I am also interested in the utilisation of nanotechnology to enhance the effects of radiation therapy.
