I graduated in Architecture from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in 2007, completed the Master of Arts “Architecture of Rapid Changes and Scarce Resources” in 2009 at the London Metropolitan University (UK) and I currently hold a PhD (Excellent Cum Laude) in Urban Studies from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
I have several years of experience in strategic and practical implementation of community engagement programmes, and developing grass-root projects around heritage and the built environment in Venezuela, Ecuador, Spain and the United Kingdom. Since 2010 I developed research on the intra-borders of Latin-American cities, where my research interests have been centred on the explorations of daily-life experiences in the urban space, particularly focused on the role in-between spaces play in articulating the space.
I have extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, architecture and urban design as well as writing and editorial work.
Currently, I combine my experience in participatory design, architecture, urbanism, and writing with research and teaching.
I am a regular contributor in El País newspaper, and my writing has been published in The Guardian UK, Sustainable Cities collective, Inside Housing UK, Architecture in Development, Open Democracy, and many others.
My research interests are related to in-between spaces, divided contexts, socio-spatial segregation and artistic interventions in the intra-borders of contemporary cities, more specifically in the following:
I have been previously teaching the module of International Cooperation at the School of Architecture of the Universitat International de Catalunya (UIC).
I am currently a postdoctoral and teaching fellow in the Department of Urbanism and Planning (DUOT) in Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and a visiting scholar at the School of Natural and Built Environment at Queen’s University Belfast. Currently, I am also teaching at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) supervising final master thesis in the MA City and Urbanism.
