Personal profile
Research Focus
I am a bilingual UK Behaviour Analyst (UKBA, Cert.) and Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). I first started my career as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language in Brazil in 1995. I started in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) in 2012, and I completed a Masters in Behaviour Analysis and Therapy in the UK in 2016. Within the behaviour analytical field, I have focused on equipping ABA practitioners with practical skills to implement meaningful and socially significant skill acquisition goals with learners with a different range of profiles and needs. My current research aims to investigate two different supervision teaching strategies in order to identify the most effective supervision training outcomes for trainee behaviour analysts seeking certification from an established behaviour analytical body within the country they live in. The strategies I selected for teaching may provide information to country specific teaching establishments about the most effective way to support trainee behaviour analysts to learn skills. I am based in the UK, I will choose one of the competencies from the UK SBA curriculum to focus my research on. More broadly, I will also investigate the history of applied behaviour analysis in two countries, its barriers and enablers to better inform the field of the development of behaviour analytical certification in these countries.
Other
Clinical practice experience:
I have training and experience implementing a wide range of behaviour analytical assessment tools and language curricula and I run an ABA company in the UK which provides both in person and telehealth services to learners from different ages, profiles and needs in the UK and abroad. I also run a learning platform where I make behaviour analytical courses accessible to people in different countries. Alongside providing these services, I also provide support and executive function skills strategies to neurodiverse staff in their workplace.
