I am a lifelong learner and researcher of emerging economic behaviours and social structures. As a Lecturer in Business Strategy at Queen's Business School, I integrate interdisciplinary knowledge from Sociology, Management, and Information Systems to dissect the organizational complexities inherent in digital architecture. Specifically, I explore how algorithmic mechanisms, such as platform designs and ecosystem rules, reshape governance and social relations, and with what social and economic consequences. My overarching aim is to provide original and practical insights into how such workings can be tailored to foster sustainable socio-economic value creation.
My current projects are motivated by questions such as:
How do digital platforms maintain and enhance legitimacy amid constant evolution, even when changes challenge established standards and norms? How does digital materiality reconfigure evaluation and legitimation practices?
How do platform governance and design evolve to become more 'fit' over time? Under what conditions do highly innovative configurations arise and sustain?
My research approach is methodologically agnostic. I consider theoretical development and empirical investigation two sides of the same coin, both playing pivotal roles in my work. Qualitative methods lay the foundation for my work. Meanwhile, I employ a combination of methods and techniques to examine the digital 'black boxes' in organizational contexts. These techniques include statistical modelling, mixed methods such as fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fs/QCA), and field experiments.
