Research Focus

Dr. Ying Zheng is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the School of Natural and Built Environment at Queen’s University Belfast. Ying is engaged in a postdoc work, the AHRC Green Transition Ecosystem - 'Future Island-Island' project. Ying is collaborating with Professor Greg Keeffe's team to facilitate co-design processes and community engagement aimed at investigating transitions toward circularity in food, energy, water, and material flows on Rathlin Island. Notably, her PhD study delves into "Nature-Based Solutions for Urban Heat Islands in Megacities," where she has endeavoured to devise a series of nature-based interventions addressing environmental challenges in urban settings. Ying’s work primarily involves investigating how we can improve our urban environment for public health. Ying's scholarly contributions primarily manifest in design strategies, innovative methodologies, and technologies aimed at tackling contemporary urban issues.
