‘Communities of care: family, community, and social care for children, 1882-1912’ . This PhD carried out in collaboration with The Children's Society, and based at Newcastle University will examine the history of children’s pathways in and out of care in late nineteenth and early twentieth-century Britain. It will use family and public history approaches to examine in the relationships that existed between welfare-recipient families, their local communities, and The Children’s Society.
