Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy

This award recognises an individual's effectiveness in teaching and/or supporting learning, as demonstrated through evidence of their commitment to professional values. This includes respecting individual learners and diverse groups, and using scholarship, research, professional learning, and other evidence-informed approaches as the foundation for effective practice. The award also acknowledges the application of appropriate core knowledge, such as understanding how learners learn, both generally and within specific subjects, along with the use of suitable teaching methods tailored to the subject and level of study. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of critical evaluation as a basis for effective practice, and recognises the individual’s ability to provide effective and inclusive assessment, feedback, support, and guidance to learners.
