ASSESSOR FEEDBACK -

Personal Details
The submitted peer review is appropriate and directly relevant. It documents an observed 50-minute Anatomy for Dentistry lecture for 60 Year 1 Dentistry students. The review confirms clear learning outcomes, logical sequencing, appropriate images and text, e􀆯ective use of MCQs, appropriate pace and audibility, excellent clinical links, clear language, enthusiasm, strong rapport with students, and active student participation. This peer review provides direct evidence of effective teaching practice and supports the claims made in Domain 2. There is an appropriate reflection on the peer review of teaching.

Core Values
Dr Meguid demonstrates the AoME core values convincingly. The peer review also supports her strong rapport with students and commitment to ensuring learner understanding. Professional identity and integrity: Her roles in assessment governance, including Deputy Assessment Lead and Chair of the pre-exam board, demonstrate responsibility, fairness, transparency, and academic integrity. Her contribution to international ethical guidance on the use of anatomical images further supports her commitment to ethical educational practice. Scholarship and reflection: Dr Abdel Meguid demonstrates sustained engagement with scholarship through educational publications, peer review, international collaboration, conference and workshop activity, and evidence-informed educational innovation. Equality, diversity, and inclusion: Her involvement in widening participation, decolonisation activities, mentoring, and QUB’s Path to Sanctuary initiative provides strong evidence of values-led educational leadership and commitment to inclusive learning environments.

Domain 1
Dr Meguid provides strong evidence of achievement in the design and planning of learning activities. As Director of the MSc Clinical Anatomy programme and Course Lead for Anatomy for Dentistry, she has led the design, review, and enhancement of curriculum content to ensure clinical relevance, learner-centredness, and alignment with educational standards. Her introduction of ultrasound-based anatomy teaching in collaboration with radiologists, peer assisted learning opportunities, and digital learning resources such as Anatomy Pro demonstrates innovation and responsiveness to learner needs. She also describes constructive alignment between learning outcomes, teaching methods, and assessment strategies, using formative MCQs, clinical case discussions, and applied anatomy scenarios to promote active learning and professional relevance. The introduction of structured induction surveys and enhanced Advisor of Studies support further demonstrates a thoughtful approach to identifying learner needs and using this information to inform curriculum planning.

Domain2
This is a strong domain. Dr Meguid demonstrates a broad and inclusive teaching practice across undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare programmes. Her use of case-based discussions, formative MCQs, peer-assisted learning, ultrasound teaching, and digital anatomy resources reflects a varied and learner-centred approach to teaching and facilitation. The peer review of teaching strongly supports this domain. The observed teaching session in Anatomy for Dentistry demonstrated clear learning outcomes, logical sequencing, appropriate pace, strong clinical links, clear communication, effective use of MCQs, enthusiasm, rapport with students, and encouragement of participation. This provides direct corroboration of e􀆯ective teaching practice. Dr Meguid also provides evidence of learner support beyond the classroom through her Advisor of Studies role, MSc programme leadership, course leadership, one-to-one student support, mentoring, and attention to learner wellbeing. Her EDI, widening participation, decolonisation, and Path to Sanctuary work further support her commitment to inclusive and compassionate education

.

Domain3
Dr Meguid demonstrates appropriate and credible experience in assessment and feedback. Her roles as Deputy Assessment Lead and Chair of the pre-exam board provide evidence of responsibility for assessment governance, fairness, quality assurance, and academic standards. She describes involvement in the development and review of written examinations, practical anatomy assessments, formative assessments, and applied clinical learning activities. Her emphasis on constructive alignment, validity, fairness, consistency, higher-order thinking, and feedback indicates a sound understanding of assessment principles. She also describes the use of formative MCQs, interactive teaching sessions, and individual meetings to help students identify learning gaps and develop self-directed learning strategies. The referee statement further supports her fairness, transparency, accountability, and professionalism in assessment and academic decision-making.

Domain 4
Dr Meguid demonstrates strong achievement in educational scholarship and evidence based practice. Her application describes sustained engagement with educational literature, active learning, formative assessment, peer-assisted learning, digital technologies, and ultrasound teaching. She shows evidence of applying educational evidence to improve anatomy teaching and learner engagement. Her scholarship profile is substantial. She reports 20 educational publications, peer review activity for Anatomical Sciences Education, Journal of Clinical Anatomy, and BMC Medical Education, as well as contributions to workshops, conference presentations, curriculum discussions, faculty development, and international educational initiatives. Her involvement in international ethical guidance on anatomical images through the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists is particularly relevant and demonstrates contribution beyond her own institution. The referee statement strongly corroborates her educational scholarship, peer review, curriculum development, faculty development, international collaboration, and leadership within the wider anatomy education community.

Domain 5
Dr Meguid demonstrates substantial achievement in educational management and
leadership. Her programme leadership as Director of the MSc Clinical Anatomy programme, course leadership in Anatomy for Dentistry, and contribution to curriculum enhancement show sustained responsibility for educational quality, learner support, multidisciplinary coordination, and programme sustainability. Her leadership includes the introduction of ultrasound teaching, digital learning resources, structured learner support systems, Advisor of Studies meetings, and induction surveys. She also
contributes to governance and quality assurance through her roles as Deputy Assessment Lead and Chair of the pre-exam board. Her leadership extends beyond the local institutional context through international roles within the American Association of Clinical Anatomists, workshops, mentoring, educational initiatives, and contributions to international ethical guidance. Her role as Operational Group Champion for QUB’s
Path to Sanctuary initiative also demonstrates inclusive and socially accountable educational leadership.

Assessment
Dr Eiman Abdel Meguid presents a strong and well-supported application for Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Educators. The application demonstrates sustained commitment, expertise, and achievement across the five AoME Professional Standards domains, with credible evidence of educational leadership, curriculum innovation, effective teaching, learner support, assessment governance, educational scholarship, and values-driven institutional and international contribution. Dr Meguid’s educational profile is substantial. Her roles as Director of the MSc Clinical Anatomy programme and Course Lead for Anatomy for Dentistry at Queen’s University Belfast provide clear evidence of programme-level responsibility and sustained contribution to curriculum
design, delivery, assessment, student support, and quality enhancement. The application is further strengthened by a detailed and supportive referee statement and a formal peer review of teaching, both of which corroborate key elements of her educational practice.
Overall, the application demonstrates achievement beyond routine teaching. Dr Meguid
provides evidence of curriculum development, clinically integrated anatomy education,
ultrasound-based teaching, peer-assisted learning, digital learning innovation, assessment governance, educational scholarship, international professional contribution, and inclusive educational leadership. These activities are consistent with Fellowship-level practice, with evidence across the breadth of the AoME domains and clear alignment with the Academy’s core values.
Although some sections would have been strengthened further by more explicit impact metrics and named examples of outcomes, the totality of evidence is sufficient to support the award of Fellowship.
