Global Research Training Programme

Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Description

Alessandra Guida has been offered a place on the 2022 Global Research Training Programme(GRTP). The GRTP has been established to provide support for a selected group of early-career academic staff to lay the groundwork for conducting international research to address global challenges. It provides support for only three academic staff from each faculty. The selected participants will have the opportunity to attend a series of training workshops to prepare researchers to engage in GCRF research opportunities. They will receive a seed grant of £4,000 to support international travel for the development of an international research project and/or partnership. Alessandra will develop an international project that tackles the problem of pesticide-induced pollution of groundwater and aquatic ecosystems. The project, which is titled "Agricultural Pesticides and Human Rights: A Comparative Study to Ensure Groundwater Quality Protection and Highly Vulnerable Aquatic Ecosystems", aims to explore whether the regulatory frameworks on agricultural pesticides in Australia, Europe, and the United Kingdom, may themselves reflect a failure to implement international duties to which these states have committed.
