    Prize: Fellowship awarded competitively

A Lannan Literary Fellowship is worth $75,000 and is one of the most distinguished and lucrative literary prizes in the world of contemporary anglophone literature. Lannan Literary Fellowships are "to honor both established and emerging writers whose work is of exceptional quality". This Fellowship was awarded on the strength of my first three collections: There Was Fire in Vancouver (1996), Between Here and There (2002) and The State of the Prisons (2005).
