Shortlisted Finalist for Staff Volunteer of the Year Award

Citation: David is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and has improved the quality of life and living conditions for both children and adults with and without learning disabilities living in depleted and deprived areas of Timisoara, Romania. David created an international elective placement for his students motivating them to fund raise and got involved in the fund raising process himself. Over the past four years, £17,500 has been raised and during student placements in Romanian, the students decide where the greatest need is and are able to purchase really meaningful items that will make a difference. David has also created student volunteering opportunities at a local nursing home, knitting teddies with residents to give to the Romania children as well as volunteering opportunities sin Romanian to support street children.
