During 2018-19, Andrew led the development of a number of new initiatives within his School. In taking over the line management responsibility for Teaching Associates, he led a process of reviewing and redefining how teaching support is assessed and offered within the School. He was the driving factor behind creating a new innovative small group learning space, the Learning Lab. This dedicated space, built around student input and pedagogic focus, has been incredibly successful and is widely used for small group support, optional seminars, and all sorts of interactive staff-student activities. Andrew was also instrumental in setting up a teacher training programme for PhD students.
