Awarded to Aisling Keane (PI), Chris Johnson and Etain Tansey. UKCISAs received 37 applications in total and ours was selected after careful consideration by two external assessors and a final panel.
The project outcomes were to:
• Identify the unique academic and cultural challenges facing culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students as they study Biosciences at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB).
• Develop a programme for inducting CLD international students into the teaching and learning environment.
• Disseminate the results of the pilot scheme to teaching staff within the Health Science Faculty at QUB and beyond;
o to raise awareness amongst teaching staff of the unique challenges facing CLD students
o to support the development of skills in teaching staff enabling them to continue the work begun by this pilot scheme
