US-UK Fulbright Scholarship - All Disciplines Scholar Award

Prize: Fellowship awarded competitively

Description

I was awarded a 12 month prestigious US-UK Fulbright All Disciplines Scholarship 2018-19 to introduce service user involvement to the US Social Work Curriculum. This was the first such Scholarship to a social work academic since 1967. During the Scholarship time, I worked with the Silver School of Social Work, New York University and The College of Health Sciences, Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee. At the conclusion of my Fulbright research, not only was service user involvement in the curriculum successfully piloted in both of these universities but furthermore, The Council for Social Work Education (CSWE), the regulatory body for Social Work in the USA, supported my leadership of a Curriculum Guide to introduce service user involvement to the wider curriculum in the United States. This is currently in development.
