Meyer (Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario) on November 13th, 2020 | Organizing Committee - Dr. Kieran Conroy (Queen’s Management School) and Dr. Sinéad Monaghan (Trinity Business School) | Academic abstract: This research focusses on strategic choices MNCs have available when interacting with institutions. How do MNCs choose to respond to institutions, e.g. contesting, conforming, collaborating, or co-creating? What do MNCs say that they do, how do they actually interact and how do they succeed by doing so? The paper is based on typology-driven theorizing and provides a theoretical contribution by disentangling the relationship between generic strategy and institutional strategy incorporating the notion of co-evolution.
