Abstract
A low-profile tilted-beam resonant cavity antenna (RCA) based on gradient artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) and partially reflective surface (PRS) is proposed in this paper. The AMC is composed of an array of square patch printed on a dielectric substrate with metal ground backed, while the PRS consists of complementary arrays of square loop patch and aperture, which are printed on both sides of a dielectric slab. The reflection phase gradient of PRS and AMC can be controlled separately by gradating the sizes of their unit cells along orthogonal directions, leading to the capability of RCA to achieve beam-tilting in 2D domain. An implementation is demonstrated with simulated results, which manifests the feasibility of the design method.
