Abstract

Acylation reaction belongs to the most desired transformation by chemists because of its wide application for industrial scale synthesis of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The chapter focuses on acylation of arenes and heteroarenes, providing an overview of the processes available and the catalytic advancement in the field of acylation chemistry. In this chapter, various acylating agents and catalysts studied so far with their practical applicability in the industry will be discussed. Many greener approaches for acylation of arenes have been devised to achieve environmental friendly and economically viable processes.
