Analysing public policy in the classroom

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The EU is well known for producing a large amount of often complex policies. For students to fully grasp how politics at the EU level works, they need to feel confident analysing the EU policymaking process and its outcomes. This, arguably, is becoming more accessible as the ‘Brussels bubble’ becomes more transparent. This chapter offers suggestions on how to weave policy analysis into teaching on EU politics, from the use of games to the design of assignements, with a dual focus on the pre-legislative and legislative phases of EU decision-making.
