Abstract

To achieve the renewable energy target, it is necessary to carry out technological assessment of marine hydrokinetic energy devices. The objective of this study is to
present the suitability of existing devices in the established resource sites in Ireland. The analysis is based on the technical data of the turbines and tidal current velocity profiles from the established numerical model. From this study, we conclude that there are certain locations where all kinds of marine hydrokinetic devices could be deployed, while in a few locations’ technology feasibility is limited.
