Abstract
This critical academic commentary on the guarantee of freedom of association in the German Constitution (GG) analyses the history of freedom of association (starting from the combination bans of early industrialisation) , contextualises workers collective organisation, collective bargaining and collective action in globalisation and Europeanisation of the economy, as well as in the changing demands of the post-industrial age, and offers a critique of the case law of the German Constitutional Court with references to the case law of the German labour courts, based on extensive literature reviews
