Abstract
Hypertension can be poorly controlled for a number of reasons, including factors such as lack of adherence and suboptimal treatment, as well as true drug resistance. This article gives advice on the management of resistant hypertension, and provides tips for GPs and other prescribers on steps that can be taken before referring patients to secondary care.
