Abstract
This short documentary film explores the history of welfare in Belfast in the light of contemporary issues surrounding migration, welfare reform, ideas of deservingness and what constitutes basic needs. The documentary has been taken up by the BBC and is hosted on their website. I have also given an interview on my research on the Sunday Sequence programme
