Brönsted and Lewis acid catalysis of X=Y-ZH cycloadditions

Abstract

Cycloadditions of arylidene mdines of methyl phenylglycinate show substantial rate enhancement in the presence of Brönsted and Lewis cids; for Brönsted acids the rate is related to the pK a of the acid, whilst for he Lewis acids studied the rate cceleration decreased in the order n(OAc)2 > AgOAc > iOAc > Mg(OAc)2.
