Data sources:
The policy documents needed all come from the following sources: online databases of laws and regulations including the “Law Star”, “Law Library”, “Peking University Law”, local Public Security Bureau official websites. The data will be most up-to-date and cover 120 cities that was covered by Zhang and Lu’s research. Permanent population, natural growth, other local economic factors all come from Yearbooks published annually from 2000 to 2020 that cover all cities across China.
