Abstract
The design of a tunable hybrid coupler is presented. The structure is composed of two cascaded active quasi-lumped couplers. Over 460% bandwidth is achieved using varactor diode tuning. This circuit, which operates from 1.5 to 7 GHz, consumes virtually no DC power and its size is reduced by a ratio of five when compared to that of a classical branchline coupler.
