Abstract

This concluding chapter draws overall issues discussed revolving around the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on challenges to the intellectual property (IP) system in terms of a better understanding and preparing for a future pandemic by offering a novel discussion on sustainability, innovation, and global justice that promotes the social objective of IP, and use of IP for progressive social and sustainable innovation. Thus, all chapters demonstrate the strong interconnectivity that links sustainability and the importance of the resilience of social systems in crises such as pandemics.
