Creating an immersive audio space for and with people living with Parkinson’s disease

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

Are immersive audio experiences, artistically approached, a potential space for training motor imagery skills in people living with Parkinson’s disease?

Mental imagery to aid mobility in Parkinson’s disease is an expanding area of research, as is the use of audio and other types of sensory cueing. My practice-based research project aims to create immersive audio experiences that draw and build on such research using artistic methodologies, decisions and processes.

My paper will outline the artistic discoveries from the practice-based research and the creative consultations with people living with Parkinson’s disease and ask how the enactive affordance-based approach to therapy can benefit from artistic know-how and dramaturgical thinking.
