Jointly funded by the EPSRC and NSFC through a large-scale cross consortium project EP/L001063/1, this collaborative work with a leading team on micro-grid research in China has developed a novel and experimentally validated data-driven approach to tackle a key modelling challenge in microturbine applications to provide combined heat and power in microgrid. The work attracted further funding on international collaborative research on microgrid from the Royal Academy of Engineering, and was included in three keynote speeches on decarbonizing the whole energy system from top to tail in two international conferences in China and one workshop in UK.
