Abstract

The continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythm is one of the most important aspects of cardiological investigation and forms a vital part of assessment of patient wellbeing in coronary care and other high dependency units. In this, the first of two articles, the use of static monitoring is considered. A future article will deal with detection and recording of transient dysrhythmias during ambulatory monitoring.
